Travel to Africa

There is nothing quite like finding yourself in the middle of a herd of elephants or on foot amidst a troop of screeching gorillas. If you’ve always been intrigued by the mysteries of the African continent, you’ve come to the right place. O’Brien Travel has expertise on travel to Africa and can organize virtually anything you can imagine. Both Orrel Aza and outside agent, Diana Mascali, have traveled to various areas of Africa many times and Diana has been escorting groups on safari since 1986. Both are members of APTA, the Association for the Promotion of Tourism to Africa.

From the most modest lodge safari to exclusive totally customized mobile tented safaris, we can arrange the best itinerary for you. We know the operators; we know where the animals will be and when; we have contacts who will help us arrange for you exactly the type experience you are seeking.

Unlike most other destinations on the globe, safari travel in Africa is most exclusive (and expensive) when the traveler “roughs it”. Mobile tented safaris in East Africa can be totally customized trips for your small group or family, led by experienced safari guides. “Roughing it” in this case includes sleeping in beds, having tents with your own private facilities, and enjoying gourmet foods and fine wines under the stars.

Or perhaps you want the comfort of fine lodges and permanent camps. Many, particularly in southern Africa, feature designer furnished tents (some are air conditioned!) and all the finest amenities, pools and spas.

Even if your safari takes you to more modest accommodations, the backdrop is spectacular. Included just about everywhere are three meals daily and two game drives. Depending on where you are, sometimes a hike, horseback ride or boat trip are substituted for a game drive. In any case, you have come to see the animals and every safari guide wants to please you. Although you will see plenty of animals, no one can predict exactly what you’ll see or experience.

The African sunset is awesome. After watching a pride of lions relaxing and playing under some trees for awhile, your vehicle has pulled over and stopped. Sundowners are served and maybe a little pre-dinner appetizer. The sounds of the African night are beginning as the sun drops. A pair of giraffes cross the horizon in front of you. This is Africa. Let us show you the magic!
